Could EM Waves Be Driving You Mad?

November 7, 2012

In response to a large number of complaints, the following chapter from “Why Your House May Endanger Your Health” may be of some assistance.

In 1980 Dr. Alfred V.Zamm and Robert Gannon told the story of people hearing electromagnetic radiation. In this book, published by Simon and Schuster of New York, Zamm and Gannon Quoted a member of the Biological Science Department of the University of California at Santa Barbara, Clarence Wieska, a researcher who specialized in the study of electrical noise problems. “When you consider the electrical makeup of man and the continuously increasing fields we are subjected to,” Wieska said, “It seems more reasonable to me that this phenomenon would occur rather than not occur. I believe there could be an increasing incidence rather than an isolated few.” Zamm and Gannon went on to quote Wieska saying:”I recently talked to nurses that had worked in mental institutions. They described patients who were always complaining and trying to get away from the terrible noise. Cotton in their ears did no good, but certain rooms or areas were more quiet for them. I believe that it may be possible that some people may have been driven to these institutions because of the unbearable noise and other effects… Maybe we are putting them in worse field areas. Maybe they could be helped by finding out if they are sensitive, and if they are, placing them in a field-free area may help their condition. I believe this is a vital thing to consider in this age of increasing mental conditions.”

In December 1971 the Electromagnetic Radiation Management Advisory Council, a nine-member group appointed by the White House, issued a little-publicized report to the American people: “Program for Control of Electromagnetic Pollution of the Environment.” Among its major findings: “The electromagnetic radiations emanating from radar, television, communications systems, microwave ovens, industrial heat-treatment systems, medical diathermy units, and many other sources permeate the modern environment; This type of manmade radiation exposure has no counterpart in man’s evolutionary background; it was relatively negligible prior to World War II; Power levels in and around American cities, airports… industry and homes may already be biologically significant.” “Unless adequ3ate monitoring and control, based on a fundamental understanding of biological effects, are instituted in the near future, in the decades ahead, man may enter an era of energy pollution of the environment comparable to the chemical pollution of today; Research in the field of long-term, low-level effects of electromagnetic radiation on living systems has been near a standstill in this country… The consequences of undervaluing or misjudging the biological effects of long-term, low-level exposure could become a critical problem of the public health.”

More than twenty years ago the government knew that Americans were surrounded by all manner of man-made electromagnetic radiation — radiant energy in the form of waves moving through space — never before experienced by any species, and the long-term consequences were unknown then and are still unknown now. In fact it could well be that long-term consequences might be enormous and perhaps even disastrous. Dr. Zamm and Gannon concluded: “The question constitutes one of the most complicated, baffling, and controversial medical problems ever confronted.” And that was before cell phones, PDA’s and all the new gadgets of the 80’s and 90’s.
